Israeli soldier filmed striking bound, blindfolded Palestinian detainee in the head
Footage from the southern West Bank shows a soldier repeatedly hitting a detainee while he and another Palestinian are bound and blindfolded. Palestinian reports say a father and son were arrested. The Israeli army says the conduct is under review.
Two Palestinians are bound and blindfolded. A soldier repeatedly strikes one of them in the head. The footage, reported by The Times of Israel on Oct. 27, comes from the South Hebron Hills in the southern West Bank.
According to Palestinian reports cited by the paper, the army arrested a father and his son after settlers attacked their home. An Arabic-language post embedded in its report names them as Issa Musif and his son Rami, in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron.
Wattan News Agency, citing the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society, listed Issa Musif and his son Rami among people arrested in the Hebron area in an Oct. 27 report, naming the town of Yatta. Qayd has not independently confirmed the identity of the people in the video.
According to the army, troops were sent after a report that an Israeli civilian had been assaulted, and “the Palestinian suspects resisted the forces.” It said “the use of violence is unacceptable” and that the soldiers’ conduct “is being reviewed and will be addressed in accordance with the findings.”
