Looking for a relative?
If someone in your family has been detained, or you have lost contact with them, these organisations take questions from families:
- International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC): ask about a detained or missing relative. Arabic line: 08 283 2400 (+970 8 283 2400), every day, 8:00 to 16:00. The ICRC does not use WhatsApp or any other messaging app for its services, so be wary of anyone contacting you in its name. If you live outside Palestine, contact the Red Cross or Red Crescent society in your country through the ICRC directory. The ICRC has not visited detainees since 7 October 2023; it says it will contact the family once it has news of a detained relative. → ICRC page for families
- The Palestinian Center for the Missing and Forcibly Disappeared: takes reports of people missing in Gaza through a form on its website (in Arabic) or at info@pcmfd.org. → Report form
- HaMoked – Center for the Defence of the Individual: an Israeli rights group that helps families, free of charge, find out where a relative is being held. → Website
